Long-awaited plans to improve a poorly designed roundabout have finally been published.

The road markings, signs and cyclepaths at the A120 Marks Farm roundabout in Braintree had been due to be changed in spring last year.

But the Highways Agency said traffic flow data showed it would not have had the desired effect and since then has been working on another road marking layout.

It has also said a second, much larger scheme, was needed to reduce queues at the roundabout.

Plans for the first set of works, which will cost about £75,000, have now been revealed.

It will involve changes to the traffic signs and road markings on the roundabout and approach roads, as well as a minor change to the kerb on the A131 approach.
