Building work to create 135 new homes on an estate could start within months.
Taylor Wimpey has lodged a planning application for housing, sports fields and changing rooms south of Maltings Lane, Witham.
The proposals include 95 private homes - mostly three and four bed houses - and 40 affordable homes.
But existing residents on the Maltings Lane estate believe new homes should not be built until promised infrastructure, such as a community centre, shops and a health centre, is built.
