A cheeky wolf-whistle sparked an impressive 70-year romance for this couple.
Ivy and Richard Button, of Gilbert Way, Braintree, tied the knot at the ages of 17 and 19 after a chance encounter in Bethnal Green.
The jolly couple, who are originally from Bethnal Green, went on to have four children, Brenda, Patricia, Richard and Lisa, as well as 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
They met when Mrs Button and her friend decided to have a baked potato under the town’s railway arches, where Mr Button happened to be with his four friends.
A whistle at the young ladies led to a date at the cinema in the back row seats, where a crafty cigarette together paved the way for long-lasting companionship.
