POLICE are searching for two men following an attempted burglary in Chelmsford. 

Two men tried to force their way through a rear patio door into a house on Writtle Road, near to the junction with Waterhouse Street, at 12.45pm on Wednesday but were disturbed by the homeowner. 

Investigating Officer, Dc David Moore, said: "The female resident heard the doorbell ring, but didn’t answer the front door.

"She then heard her side-gate open, prompting her to walk to her lounge which is at the rear of the house. I

"t was there she saw two men trying to force their way inside, but the sight of her forced both men to take to the roof where they then ran along the top of the house towards the front, jumped down and were then seen running towards the cemetery.”

The two burglars are described as white, aged in their 20s – early 30s, approximately 5ft 9ins tall and of slim build. Both were wearing long fawn-coloured duffle coats with hoods up.
