Twelve treasured family photo albums could be destined for the bin if they can not be returned to their rightful owner.

A Second World War archive near Leeds is desperately looking for surviving family members of a Braintree couple who lived in the area from the 1920s through to at least the late 1950s.

The couple were Stanley and his wife Violet Goodwin (nee Wendon).

The albums were received by The Second World War Experience Centre as part of a large donation of material bequeathed to the centre.

A spokesman said: “Because the albums do not relate specifically to the wartime period, the centre cannot include them in its archive and, unless a home can be found, they will unfortunately have to be disposed of.”

If any surviving members of the Goodwin or Wendon families, or perhaps a local history group, are interested in having the albums, contact the centre on 01937 541 274 or email at enquiries@war-experience.org
