A child has been airlifted to hospital with head injuries following a crash in Witham.
The boy was in collision with a grey Mercedes A180 in Maldon Road shortly after midday.
An Essex Police spokesman said: “Police are on the scene of a road crash in Witham.
“The boy has been airlifted to hospital after sustaining head injuries.
“Paramedics on board the air ambulance are assessing the extent of these injuries.
“A section of the road between The Grove and Newland Street has been closed while an investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the crash.
“At this stage there’s no further information.”
It is understood that the boy is aged four.
