A parade through the town centre is being planned to mark the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War.
Witham Town Council and the Royal British Legion (RBL) hope to hold a series of events this year to mark the war’s outbreak.
A commemorative service at St Nicolas Church, on Chipping Hill, on August 3, has already been booked.
It is hoped a parade, going from Collingwood Road to the Memorial Gardens in Newland Street, can take place the following evening.
