Witham GP quits NHS over deterioration of health service

Braintree and Witham Times: Witham GP quits NHS over deterioration of health service Witham GP quits NHS over deterioration of health service

A well-known Witham GP has quit the NHS amid claims it is being destroyed by central Government.

Dr Roy Melamed is resigning from his post at the Douglas Grove where he has been since 1998 after becoming disillusioned with the health service.

The father-of-four, who will be switching to the private sector, said: “We are fighting resources being cut left, right and centre, we are fighting the privatisation of the NHS.

“I feel demoralised and disillusioned and plea to politicians to help the NHS, not destroy it.”

What a shame. Dr Melamed is a great GP and I for one will miss him.

Which is why he is transferring to the private sector? Am I missing something? Presumably Dr Melamed was trained by the NHS? And leaving the NHS is helping it? Oh yes! private doctors earn vast amounts more money - silly me.

Admirable concern for the NHS.

We deserve the best health care in the World – because we have already paid for it!

I want a Doctor to be on my side; not pouring over accounts to see if treatment is affordable.
