A Witham mum is concerned for the health of her baby amid claims a housing association has failed to sort out on a damp problem in her flat.

Former Alec Hunter Humanities College pupil Tiffany Knight, 21, is living in a one-bed Humber Road flat.

She said: “The mould is in mine and my son’s bedroom, which is really really bad.
“It’s about a foot up the wall and it’s all around near his cot and my bed, which has made my bed damp and one of his blankets very very damp.

“I’m very concerned about my son’s health because he is only four months old.
“I have washed and bleached the mould but it just comes back and that’s a day after cleaning.”

A Greenfields spokesman said: "We were first notified of the problem by Miss Knight on 31 January 2013, and our independent consultant visited her at her convenience on 19 February 2013 to investigate the issues.

"The consultant identified that the cause was condensation, and noted that the trickle vents in the windows were closed, preventing air circulation. In addition, portable electric heating was being used despite modern gas central heating having been installed in 2007.

"The consultant left Miss Knight some advice around controlling and preventing condensation. Miss Knight reported a repair on 20 May 2013 concerning boiler pressure levels, which we responded to on 23 May 2013. We did not hear from Miss Knight again until 23 January 2014, when she again raised the issue of condensation. We have once again advised Miss Knight on the best way to address this issue.

"We are always happy to work in partnership with our residents to address issues like this in our properties."
