Residents still in the dark over lights fix

Braintree and Witham Times: Residents still in the dark over lights fix Residents still in the dark over lights fix

A councillor has stepped in after concerns broken street lights have plunged a road into darkness.

District councillor Stephen Canning (Con, Bocking Blackwater) said he had been contacted by a number of residents unhappy that a row of lights in Marlborough Road, opposite Great Bradfords Junior School, had yet to be fixed despite not working for “weeks”.

Among those frustrated by the delay was Janice Dent, 55.

A UK Power Networks spokesman apologised and said work had been scheduled for October and December but was postponed twice due to storms.

The work will now take place during February half-term.
