This report is far too late. It should have been published a week ago along with a photo of the bike, its serial number and a description (or preferably a picture) of any unique markings affixed by the owner.

The chances are that this particular bike in question is long gone by now and probably looks entirely different to boot.

Why oh why doesn’t some bright spark on the BWT staff set up a scheme whereby citizens recently deprived of their property can have such information published almost immediately?

Yes, it would require ‘said citizens’ helping themselves a bit and having such information prepared and held in readiness for such eventualities – but of course they all do don’t they?

Oh, and there are some bright sparks on the staff of the BWT aren't there?

A more appropriate headline would be "Bike owner left in garden without being locked".

Also, it is a £200 bike - look in Halfords.com
