Veterans have been left in limbo waiting to see if their memorial hall will be sold.
Nine months after Lidl reportedly approached The Royal British Legion headquarters about buying its Newland Street memorial hall members no decision on whether to sell has been reached.
It is understood to be the second time the budget supermarket chain had tried to buy the site.
At their April meeting local branch members gave a resounding “no” to the sale but have yet to hear headquarters decision.
A spokesman for The Royal British Legion said: “There is no further update on negotiations for The Royal British Legion building in Witham at the moment, while we are waiting for a decision from Lidl on their interest in the property.”
It is understood Lidl is also looking at other sites in the town.
