Plans have been submitted for a former surgery to be turned into flats with a biomass boiler.

Permission has already been granted for grade ll listed Blandford House, in London Road, Braintree, to be transformed into 10 flats with four other dwellings in the grounds.

The developer, Grahams Building Services, is now looking to include a biomass boiler and alterations to the original plans, which were given the go ahead in October.

Agent Dave Farrow, of Edward Parsley Associates Ltd, wrote: “The basement will house a biomass boiler which will serve as the primary source of heating for the new build dwellings and the flats.

“Traditional options of heating and hot water have been considered however the opportunity to enhance the sustainability of the development is considered to be worth the extra investment by the client.”
