Toilets at McDonalds are anything but bog standard, according to this year’s Loo of the Year awards.

The Galleys Corner restaurant was awarded gold status in the independent competition which crowns the best toilets across the county.

The toilets were judged on criteria signage, décor, fixtures and fittings, air quality as well as overall standards of cleanliness and management.

Nominations can be done by staff, customers, visitors, managers, owners or contractors are decided by an independent Loo of the Year Awards inspector.

Braintree franchisee Cherry Lewis-Taylor said: “We prioritise making every aspect of a visit to McDonald’s of the highest possible standard. We believe that everyone deserves clean, safe and well-appointed toilet facilities.

“We ensure that these high standards are across the board, catering for everyone including disabled visitors and parents with small children.”
