The closure of a children’s centre is likely to be confirmed by councillors next week.
Little Lanes Children’s Centre, based at the Cornerstone Church, in Black Notley, was proposed for closure when Essex County Council (ECC) launched a public consultation in October.
A report recommending its closure will be discussed by the council’s cabinet on Tuesday.
The Carousel Children’s Centre, in Chapel Hill, and the Seesaw Children’s Centre, in Lancaster Way, will remain open under the plans, with their opening hours reduced from 50 to 40 hours per week.
The Roundabout Children’s Centre, in Cressing Road, Witham, will have its weekly opening cut from 42.5 hours to ten hours.
The report, written by ECC executive director Dave Hill, said: “It is acknowledged that there is a substantial amount of change in the way some services are delivered and some reduction in opening hours and that this is unpopular with the respondents.”
4Children, which operates the centres, declined to comment on the recommendations.
