Two people have been taken to hospital with suspected back and neck injuries after a three car collision this morning.

A Ford KA, a Toyota Yaris and a Peugeot 307 were involved in the collision on the southbound carriageway of the A131 by Great Leighs.

Essex Police were called to the scene just before 7.30am and the East of England Ambulance Service and fire crews also attended.

An Essex Police spokesman said: "One lane was closed while ambulance paramedics assessed the casualties and the fire service assisted in removing the driver of one of the cars."

Two casulties, including one woman in her early 40s, were taken to Broomfield with possible back and neck injuries.

The lane was reopened shortly after 9.10am.
