More than three miles of yellow lines were painted on roads in Braintree district in the space of just six months.

The North Essex Parking Partnership (NEPP) painted 5,375 metres of lines from April to October last year.

It also painted 14 bus stops, four school keep clear signs and 30 letters.

A NEPP spokesman said the figures included both newly enforced regulations and the updating of worn or faded existing restrictions.

Line painting work has not taken place in north Essex since October due to declining weather conditions, but NEPP hopes to resume work early this year.

Locations where approved schemes are awaiting painting and signage include Hatfield Peverel, Rayne Road in Braintree and Newland Street in Witham.

There are a further 27 schemes in Braintree district awaiting approval.

These include waiting restrictions near Braintree Town’s football ground in Clockhouse Way, and restrictions in Reed Meadow, Braintree, to prevent users of the nearby Braintree Freeport rail station parking there.
