A council health and safety report has revealed the main cause of accidents involved moving objects hitting staff.
Braintree Council has presented figures for the first and second quarters of the current financial year, which revealed there were 28 reports of accidents or incidents.
The report stated: “Hit by a moving object was the main cause of accidents to employees this quarter. [The report does not specify first or second quarter.]
“Two members of staff were hit by the large glass fronted door of a noticeboard in Braintree High Street during high winds whiles posting information on the board.”
Nineteen accidents/incidents related to council employees while four involved contractors and five involved non-employees.
A total of 31 days’ work were lost due to employees being involved in accidents/incidents.
One insurance/compensation claim was made, but has not yet been settled.
