£100k for our libraries

Braintree and Witham Times: £100k for our libraries £100k for our libraries

LIBRARIES in Essex will benefit from almost £100,000 in a cash giveaway.

Libraries across the county have secured funding to develop a summer reading and arts programme for 2014 from the National Lottery.

The funding will see a variety of events and activities organised during the summer months.

Councillor John Jowers, cabinet member for libraries, said: “The additional funding will enable young people to express their reading through a range of art forms, learn new skills and to work with some high quality artists.”

So with money being found for libraries and pre school children centres I wonder if Simon Lefley will get off his a**e and try and secure some funding that may prevent the closure of Priory House care and dementia home. Doubt it.

Divide £100,000 between all the libraries in Essex and each library will get a miniscule amount. Also, I would not mind betting some libraries will get a preferential larger share of the kitty. How about the Echo tell us which libraries will get what amount rather than throw us a larger, more headline grabbing, figure at us.
