The final decision on a proposed street market in Witham town centre will be made by Braintree Council, road chiefs say.
In last week’s Times it was revealed that Witham’s town team plans to approach Essex County Council (ECC) to close Newland Street to traffic for six hours once a month.
The organiser of existing markets in Pitsea and Rayleigh, Charfleets, has been approached with a view to holding a 100-stall market on a Tuesday in the town.
Braintree Council says it will consider proposals for a street market in Witham along with alternative options from its own ongoing review.
