Police are appealing for information after a cat was shot dead in Chelmsford.

Police are appealing for information after a cat was shot with an air weapon.

The tabby cat was taken to the vet following the incident, but sadly died.

The incident happened in the area of The Leys, Chelmsford, between 5pm and 6.30pm on Monday, December 23.


Investigating officer, Pc Alex Doyle, said: "This incident would clearly have been extremely distressing for the owner, so I would really urge anyone with any information to call police."

Anyone with information is urged to contact Pc Doyle, or his colleagues at Chelmsford, on 101. Alternatively, call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
