A former church trustee's voyeurism has left a Christian community "desperately" saddened.

Music tutor Timothy Pooley, 50, of Maldon Road, Witham, admitted three charges of voyeurism when he appeared at Colchester Magistrates’ Court.

The court heard that Pooley used his iPhone to make videos of the victim getting undressed, showering and using the toilet.

He was suspended as a trustee at Witham's Bethel Christian Fellowship when the allegations came to light.

Pastor Gordon Crick said: "We are desperately sad at this case and regret the hurt this has caused to the victim and to all those involved."

Pooley also tutored the piano at William De Ferrers School in South Woodham Ferrers.

Headteacher Neal McGowan said: “I can confirm that we will not be using his tuition services in the future.”

Pooley was bailed with condition that he does not contact the victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons.

He will be sentenced at the Chelmsford Crown Court in January.
