A man has been left with “severe” facial injuries after an attack in Braintree town centre.
According to reports on social media, it is believed that six men attacked the 21-year-old.
An Essex Police spokesman said: “Police were contacted shortly before 2.30am following reports that a man was wandering around in a bloodied state in Bank Street.
“Officers arrived and found a 21-year-old with severe facial injuries.”
The victim was taken to Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford, and is now believed to be recovering back at home.
The police spokesman added: “Officers will be looking to speak with him later today once he has sobered up to establish how he received these injuries.”
