Burglaries, bike thefts and police visibility will top the agenda when Essex’s Police and Crime Commissioner returns to Braintree.

Nick Alston, who aims to hold two public meetings a year in each of the county’s districts, will be at Braintree Council’s offices at Causeway House from 4pm to 6pm on Thursday.

The meeting will also look at neighbourhood policing and cycling on pavements, while residents will have the opportunity to raise other issues.

Mr Alston said: "It is important that crime continues to fall in Essex – that we have fewer victims of crime and fewer people living in fear of crime.

“I am committed to the principle of local solutions for local problems, and to ensuring that police, partner agencies, the voluntary sector and residents work together as closely as possible to keep our communities safe.”

He added: “We’d love people to attend all of the meeting, but if you can only make part of it, please still come along.

“I want your views to be part of the debate about how we can best keep the streets and countryside of Essex safe.”
