Braintree: Town centre shopping website launched

Braintree and Witham Times: Braintree: Town centre shopping website launched Braintree: Town centre shopping website launched

A new website showcasing Braintree’s town centre shopping has been launched.

The Shopping Braintree website, set up by Braintree Council, has been designed to provide shoppers with details of retailers, places to eat, offers, events and discounts.

Chris Siddall, Braintree Council cabinet member for prosperity and growth, said: "As part of our Backing our Towns programme, the website is something that traders have asked for through the Braintree town team.

“On the website you will access special offers and discounts, view business locations, and get updates on events going on around the town.

“You will easily be able to access this information on your mobile or tablet whilst you’re in the town.

“We hope that this is then something that the traders will ultimately take on and run themselves.”

The website has been welcomed by traders.

Christine Nott, owner of jewellery business Christine’s Creations, based at Braintree Jewellery Village in Victoria Street, said: “It’s pretty tough out there at the moment so I hope being registered on it will help my business take off.”

A similar website for Halstead was launched last week and Braintree Council hopes to create a site for Witham in the near future.
