A Blockbuster store has been simultaneously displaying signs announcing “We’re back” and “Closing down”.
Signs above the store, in Newlands Street, Witham, advise customers that “We’re back” and offering two free weeks of movie rentals.
But posters in the window warn that the store is closing down and that “Everything must go” in a 50 per cent off sale.
The confusing signs come at a time of uncertainty for the film rental company, which announced on November 19 that it will be closing 72 stores with a loss of 452 jobs after going into administration earlier this month.
But despite the closure signs, Moorfields Corporate Recovery LLP, who have been appointed joint administrators over Blockbuster, do not include the Witham store in their latest available update of store closures.
