Police are appealing for witnesses after cash, jewellery and keys were stolen from a house in Feering.
The break-in took place on Feering Hill between October 28 and November 1 after a brick was used to smash a dining room window.
The combined value of the stolen goods is a "four-figure sum", according to police.
An Essex Police spokesman said: "House-to-house enquiries have indicated that a light was on in the property the evening prior to the burglary being found, which would have been Halloween, so it is possible the burglary was committed then.
"The stolen goods included a men’s signet ring with a square face and the letters ‘K’ and ‘B’ on it.
"They also included a women’s gold ring set with a ruby in the shape of a flower."
Anyone with information is asked to call Dc Victoria Butler at Braintree police station on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
