To celebrate the birthday of their miracle son, a grateful couple are asking for donations to a neonatal unit rather than presents.

Sarah Jenkins and Jamie Murray hit the headlines last year when baby Riley Murray’s brain was starved of oxygen after his mum had to wait nearly two hours for an ambulance to take her to Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford, for an emergency caesarean.

He stayed in the neonatal intensive care unit at Rosie Hospital, based at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, for nine days, before being transferred back to Broomfield, where he stayed until he was well enough to recover at home.
Former Rickstones School pupil Sarah, 25, said: “I think we owe Riley’s life to the Rosie Hospital and all the money we make will go there."

To celebrate his second birthday, his parents will be holding a fundraising party on January 5 from 2.30pm at Rivenhall village hall, to which everyone is invited.

The couple are organising plenty of activities for children and will also be holding a raffle.
However, they are appealing for anyone who could help with entertainment to get in touch by emailing sarahlouisejenkins27@hotmail.com or calling 01376 584258.
