M&S is set to open at the Braintree Retail Park. This is how the store could look.
A new Marks and Spencer store will create 60 jobs when it opens next summer.
The 9,000 sq ft Simply Food Store will take over the former Comet unit at the Braintree Retail Park, next to the Freeport shopping village.
While M&S has been welcomed, district councillor Lady Patricia Newton voiced her disappointment that the store was not opening in the town centre.
