A father and daughter paid their respects during Braintree’s Remembrance Day services by leading the procession and playing The Last Post.

Claire Miles, 28, of Orion Way, Braintree has been playing the iconic piece of bugle music for Remembrance Day services since she was ten-years-old and was asked to play for the 15th time in the Braintree and Bocking Public Gardens service on Sunday.

She was joined on the day by her father, Colin Miles, 61, who led the procession playing the bass drum up the High Street.

Claire said: “I first started playing The Last Post for All Saints Rayne Church when I was 10 and then I was part of the Braintree Scout and Guide band that used to lead the Remembrance Day procession every year in the town for the British Legion.

“It’s quite an honour and I am proud to take part.

“I enjoy doing it and I have got to know the boys in the British Legion and the ask me to do it every year which is really nice.

Mr Miles, of Acorn Avenue, said: “I have been leading it through town for about 20 years and I think it’s quite an honour."
