Blake House Craft Centre conjured up some spooky fun despite having no power following the St Jude storm.

Half of the centre, which runs on two power circuits, lost power at 6am on October 28 and wasn’t reconnected until 2.30pm on Thursday 31.

But despite having no electricity, staff at the centre worked together to ensure the even ran as planned, with ceramic pumpkin painting sessions, a slime tank for children tp dig through, face painting and a pumpkin hunt with prizes.

Jodie Lowe, owner of the Little Farm Shop and More, said: “We were able to hold lots of activities, even though we were having to battle with the fact that we had no electricity.

“We all pulled together and the tenants in the affected shops were all helped by those who still had power.

“There was a bit of rejuggling but the event was a great success, especially considering the testing circumstance.

“It was the first time the centre has run a halloween event and the response and all the feedback we’ve had has been amazing.”
