Essex: Train service recovering after storm disruption
8:57am Wednesday 30th October 2013 in News
The majority of Greater Anglia services are running as scheduled today after two days of storm-related disruption.
Trains on the Braintree to Witham branch line resumed yesterday evening and have been running to and from London this morning.
A Greater Anglia spokesman said: "We have been working closely with Network Rail to ensure that the infrastructure across the Greater Anglia network was available as quickly as possible.
"However it has been a difficult task due to the number of fallen trees, approximately 230, and four major de-wirements.
"We are aware that our performance over the last two days has fallen short of your expectations but we’d like to reassure you that we are doing all we can to return the service to normal and communicate this as and when we do."
Customers who have tickets dated for Monday or yesterday are being reminded they can use them to travel today.
