Chelmsford: Road closed after child hit by lorry

A main road has been closed after a girl was struck by a lorry.
Police have closed Waterhouse Lane in Chelmsford following the collison, near to the fire station, at 3.30pm
Paramedics were treating the girl at the scene after she sustained leg injuries and they are assesssing the extent of the injuries.
She was then airlifted to the major trauma centre at London Whitechapel Hospital.
Police have closed a section of the A1016 Waterhouse Lane between Beeches Road and Parkway.
Motorists are advised that this is likely to remain closed for at least the next few hours and so are advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.
The East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EEAST) sent two ambulance officers, an ambulance, and Hertfordshire Air Ambulance to the scene.
