Witham: Green Team volunteers get chance to gain qualifications
3:00pm Monday 21st October 2013 in News
Volunteers will have the chance to gain practical qualifications as an outdoor work scheme re-launches.
The Green Team, a partnership between Braintree Council and Groundwork Hertfordshire, is a 16-week voluntary programme.
The five-strong team of participants will complete a series of landscaping and outdoor projects across Witham.
Residents taking part in the programme will gain practical experience while having the chance to gain a qualification in land based studies.
It is aimed at young people who have been in long-term unemployment and who are not in education or training (NEET).
The project is funded by Braintree Council and Greenfields Community Housing’s joint Community Housing and Investment Partnership (CHIP) fund.
Chris Siddall, Braintree Council cabinet member for prosperity and growth, said: “The project proved to be very successful in Braintree, and it’s great to now be able to launch in the Witham area."
