Witham: MP calls for review of business rates
11:00am Friday 18th October 2013 in News
Witham MP Priti Patel is calling for a review of business rates to boost town centres.
Ms Patel, who is the daughter of a shopkeeper, called for business rate reform and further discounted rates to boost high streets during a debate in Parliament on Wednesday.
The debate examined ways to strengthen local economies.
Following the debate, Ms Patel said: “Business rates are consistently the number one issue raised by shopkeepers in my town.
“Lower rates will create more opportunities for small business to grow in Witham and create more jobs.
“I also welcome the action the local town team is taking to regenerate the town and develop a Neighbourhood Plan."
