Braintree: Designer's work to feature in exhibition
6:00pm Saturday 19th October 2013 in News
A celebration of one of the country’s most important designers is taking place at the Minories Art Gallery.
Romek Marber, of Stisted, has made a considerable contribution to British design, producing graphic work for a range of organisations including Penguin Books, the Economist, and Nicholson’s London Guides and created the first colour Observer Magazine.
Many of the book covers on display at the Colchester Gallery are part of Romek’s own collection and he is delighted they are finally getting a public showing after many years of being stored away.
“It is the first time anyone has done a retrospective of my work,” he smiles, “and do you know what, I like it.
“I have found it hard work getting it all together but I have had a lot of help so a lot of thanks must go to them for making this happen.”
Romek Marber: Graphics Minories Art Gallery, High Street, Colchester.
Until October 26. Mondays to Saturdays, 10am to 5pm. Free. 01206 712437.
