Braintree district: Expensive trip leaves Amy with broken bones
1:00pm Friday 18th October 2013 in News
A mum-of-five has been left struggling to cope after breaking multiple bones in a fall from a “crumbling” curb on Witham River Walk.
Former John Bramston pupil Amy Davis, 35, was walking her mum’s dog along the route last Tuesday when she fell.
She woke up the next day to discover that her foot had dramatically swollen and she was taken to Broomfield Hospital, where they confirmed she had broken numerous bones in her foot.
She had to return to the Chelmsford hospital on Saturday as her leg had continued to swell, and Miss Davis believes the cast had been fitted wrongly in the first place.
The stay-at-home mum, of Station Approach, Braintree, is relying on help from her family and friends, most of whom live in Witham.
She said: “I am planning to make a complaint.
“I fell on a crumbly curb when I was walking the dog.
“I am not happy with the council, I fell half an inch and that is what it has done.
“I can’t cook, I can’t clean, I have got five children and I have been up and down to the hospital like a yo yo and I can’t afford to do that."
