Braintree: Health and well-being market hailed a success
8:00pm Tuesday 15th October 2013 in News
A one-off market has been hailed a success.
The health and well being market came to Sandpit Lane, Braintree, on Saturday.
It was organised by the Braintree Town Team in partnership with local retailers and the council.
Shops located in Sandpit Lane and in the High Street also reported an increase in sales during the day.
Marion Horsley owner of Shake Express said: “The event clearly brought an increase of footfall to this part of the High Street and we saw a vast increase in sales, especially for October.
"We’ve seen a rise of 21% on the same day last year, and almost a 40% increase since the previous weekend. It’s been a great event.”
There were a number of stalls offering a range of health and beauty products and services including mini-beauty treatments and hair demonstrations.
Liz Storey, chair of Braintree Town Team said: “By working together as team, the local retailers and the town team have once again shown that they can help boost trade, attract more shoppers and keep their town alive and buzzing.
"It was a brilliant idea and I hope that it leads to other “pop-up” markets taking place on a regular basis.”
