Braintree district: Calls to trial flexible season tickets on Greater Anglia trains
9:00am Tuesday 22nd October 2013 in News
A train operator is being urged to introduce flexible season tickets to help part-time and home workers.
At present, rail season tickets are valid for an entire week, providing no financial incentive for those who do not make journeys five days a week.
But the Government has proposed allowing commuters to buy tickets allowing travel on selected days in a week.
Mark Leslie, chairman of the Kelvedon Rail Users’ Federation, said: “The Greater Anglia mainline is a very busy commuter line which would be ideal for a trial of the flexible tickets to be carried out on.
“We would warmly welcome the pilot being carried out on this line.”
