Braintree: New homes plan approved for estate
4:30pm Tuesday 15th October 2013 in News
Plans to demolish a block of garages to make way for new houses have been approved despite the objections of neighbours.
Father-of-one Keith Buchanan, 36, was among the opponents to plans to build two affordable homes in Bailey Bridge Road, Braintree.
Mr Buchanan voiced his objections at Braintree Council’s planning committee meeting last Tuesday, arguing the plans were intrusive.
But the committee unanimously agreed to approve the planning application, lodged by Greenfields Community Housing.
Committee member John O’Reilly-Cicconi said: “What is left for us to judge is if the new development would have such an awful effect on a neighbour or the design is so bad or something of that nature.
“In this case, personally I don’t find that is so.
“Whilst I feel for Mr Buchanan, you can’t expect something in a town to stay unchanged forever.”
