Witham: Lorries causing blockages near railway bridge
9:00am Tuesday 15th October 2013 in News
Lorries have been using a narrow road under a railway bridge despite the presence of weight restrictions.
Vehicles are being forced onto pedestrian pavements to pass each other along Oak Road, in Rivenhall End.
There have also been incidents of lorries becoming stuck under the railway bridge which passes over the carriageway.
James Abbott, district councillor for Rivenhall, is calling for an extension to weight restrictions and road improvements.
He said: “We are still getting lots of oversized vehicles ignoring the signs and forcing cars onto the pavement.”
