Witham: New pub recruiting staff
11:00am Tuesday 8th October 2013 in News
A pub is recruiting new staff as it prepares to open next month.
The new venue, which will be called The Old Pottery Kiln, is due to open on the Maltings Lane development in Witham at the end of November.
The joint pub/restaurant, operated by brewer Marston’s, is seeking staff in a variety of roles.
It wants to recruit waiting staff, chefs, kitchen assistants, kitchen porters and cleaners.
The employer will provide training to all staff and also offers modern apprenticeships and NVQ qualifications.
Cheryl Evans, from Marston’s, said: “We’re only months away from opening and this is an exciting time for the pub.
“We believe that when it’s open the Old Pottery Kiln will be a hub for the community that will not only offer great food and drink but also excellent value for money and fantastic customer service.”
The Old Pottery Kiln will cater for up to 180 customers and includes a 62-space car park.
The latest masterplan for the Maltings Lane development, which was approved in January, includes provision for 213 new homes, a football pitch, two supermarkets, offices, a retail park and a health centre.
Lady Patricia Newton, Braintree Council cabinet member for planning and property, said: “This is the first commercial property at the Maltings Lane development which is near to completion and we hope that it will now spearhead the development of the other facilities which have been proposed including a day nursery, health centre, recreational space, office development and retail outlets in addition to the primary school which was opened in 2012.
"The development will see the building of 213 additional homes, 30% will be affordable which is much needed in this area.”
