Halstead: Film screening of Last Will & Testament at castle
5:00pm Tuesday 8th October 2013 in News
What better place to screen a film about Edward de Vere than the Elizabethan’s ancestral home.
Last Will & Testament explores one of the greatest literary mysteries of all time - who wrote the works of William Shakespeare?
Since the 1920s Edward de Vere, the 17th Earl of Oxford, who was born at Castle Hedingham, near Halstead, has been leading the list of alternatives to who the Bard may have really been.
Executive Produced by Hollywood director Roland Emmerich, and starring Sir Derek Jacobi, Vanessa Redgrave and Mark Rylance, the films goes on its own quest to uncover the truth behind the elusive author, and discovers the forgotten nobleman whose story could rewrite history.
To co-incide with the DVD release of the film, it is being screened at three historic houses across the country this month with Burghley House and Beaulieu also included in the mini tour.
At each venue, as well as a chance to see the film, audiences will get the opportunity to hear debut director/producers Lisa Wilson and Laura Wilson Matthias, along with on-camera contributor and Shakespeare authority Charles Beauclerk, talk about the making of the film in a special filmmaker Q & A session.
• Last Will & Testament Hedingham Castle, Castle Lane, Castle Hedingham.
October 9. Drinks from 6pm, screening starts 7.15pm. £15. 01787 460261.
