1:30pm Monday 7th October 2013 in News
A mystery letter writer has described their “total embarrassment” after a false Facebook profile gave rise to grooming fears.
Full-time mum Lianne Cribbs raised concerns after someone stole her nine-year-old daughter Charli Piper’s identity to create a false account.
Following a story in our paper, the Witham Times received an anonymous letter from someone claiming to be the mother of another child at Charli’s school - Howbridge Junior School, Witham.
The writer sent in a photocopy of a message they claim to have sent to Miss Cribbs, under the Facebook account - Embarrassed Mum.
The writer explains that her daughter set up the account to try and win back the attention of a boy.
