Braintree district: Area profile highlights continued GCSE woes
3:00pm Friday 4th October 2013 in News
A worrying report has revealed GCSE attainment in the Braintree district was lower than the national average for the seventh successive year.
The 2013 health profile for the area, published by the Department of Health, shows the percentage of the district’s GCSE pupils achieving five or more A*s to Cs, including English and maths, stood at 54.5 per cent in 2011/12.
The national average was 59 per cent.
Not since 2004/05 have the district’s schools matched the national average.
