Braintree: School creates reading garden in memory of popular governor
9:00am Thursday 3rd October 2013 in News
A school has created a quiet reading garden for its pupils in memory of a much-loved governor.
Beckers Green Primary School, in Beckers Green Road, Braintree, has created a garden as a legacy for former councillor Eric Lynch.
The garden was officially opened by Mr Lynch’s widow, Susan, in a ceremony on Friday which was also attended by many of his friends and colleagues.
Father-of-three Mr Lynch, 69, died last June after a short battle with cancer.
The community stalwart was a district councillor for Braintree East and served as vice-chairman of the school board of governors.
Headteacher Helen Ryan said: “He was a really special governor at our school who had a lot of time with the children and was so well-loved by them."
