Braintree: Mums' daily battle with packed bus
2:00pm Sunday 29th September 2013 in News
Braintree mums with pushchairs claim they are being refused entry to cramped buses and forced to get off early because of a lack of space.
Michelle Murphy, 31, of Currents Farm Road, and Kelly Halford, 29 of Glebe Avenue, say bigger buses are needed to cope with demand on the number 21 route from the Glebe estate to John Ray Junior School.
Miss Murphy said: “Sometimes I have to get off the bus and walk because there is not enough room.
A First spokesman said: “We have experienced a high volume of customers using our services in the last couple of weeks owing to schools commencing their new terms.
“Wherever possible, we try to predict passenger numbers and ensure we have the appropriate bus for that route."
