Braintree District: Daring duo to climb Himalayas for WaterAid
5:00pm Tuesday 1st October 2013 in News
A fundraising dinner made more than £1,300 after 90 people turned out to support two local raising money for WaterAid.
Daniel Wilson, of Braintree, and Craig Holliday, of Witham, who both work for Essex and Suffolk Water, will be taking on the peaks of the Himalayas in Nepal in March to raise £7000 funds and awareness for the charity’s work in the country.
Mr Wilson, 36, said: "We still have some time to train together for the trek although recreating the Annapurna foothills will be difficult in Essex, so we plan to spend a weekend or two in the Lake District."
Mr Holliday, 32, said: "We will be trekking through the beautiful Annapurna range whilst getting the opportunity to see WaterAid’s work in action, which will hopefully inspire us to do more in the future."
The adventurous pair kickstarted their fundraising with a charity nepalese meal on Thursday 19 September at the Everest Gurkha Bar and Restaurant in Chelmsford, which is run by former Gurkha Soldier Mr Harka Sewam who was delighted to support the work being done in his homeland.
