Braintree and Witham: 20 year milestone of free lunchtime concerts
5:00pm Sunday 29th September 2013 in News
A singer will celebrate 20 years of organising free monthly concerts in November.
Betty Beal, of Foulkbourne, Witham, has been arranging Braintree District Arts lunchtime recitals in the United Reformed Church in Witham and Christ Church, in Braintree, since taking over the music sector from Felicity Wright in 1993.
Mrs Beal said: “The concerts were something Felicity always wanted to do but never got around to, so when I took over I decided to start the recitals.
“I didn’t think it was going to be a short term project but to reach our 20 years is a nice surprise and with a bit of luck we might make our 21st birthday next year.
"We have tea and coffee every week but I might bake a cake to celebrate.”
Pianist Miyuki Kato will perform on Wednesday 2 October at 1pm at The United Reformed Church in Witham.
