Braintree’s MP is using his own children’s experiences to push forward his plans to help one million young people get a job.
At the beginning of the year Brooks Newmark helped to found The Million Jobs Campaign.
Last week he launched its manifesto showing how the Government can help almost one million young unemployed people into work.
One of the top five recommendations, which were compiled by speaking to young employed people, is to stop National Insurance contributions for unemployed under 25s, meaning businesses could save more than £500 by taking on someone from this group.
Other ideas include teaching schoochildren about apprenticeships, getting rid of rules that stop employers from giving honest feedback, encourage companies to take on young people and ensure each youngster has a mentor.
Mr Newmark, whose five children are all aged between 16 and 24-years-old, believes he has an insight into what needs to be done.
